# Backups
A backup is a virtual machine (VM) disk image that is used to restore it. Backups contain all VM settings. For example, network settings, passwords, etc.
Backups are created on a schedule configured by the platform administrator.
To manage backups, enter **Virtual machines** → VM name → **Images for recovery**.

> The\*\* Images for recovery\*\* section is displayed if you have at least one backup created or if the platform administrator has allowed users to back up their VMs.
> For backups to be available, the "Space for images" add-on must be included in the virtual server tariff.
To recover a VM from a backup, press **restore**.
